The Number 23
Throughout history, the number 23 has held a mystical significance, particularly (but not exclusively) to adherants of Discordianism. They believe that all incidents and events are somehow associated with number 23 . From significant dates in world and personal history, to it’s appearance throughout the natural world (e.g. we inherit 23 genes from each parent, geometry is based on 23 natural laws etc), the number - it is claimed - appears too frequently to be explained by coincidence. This regularity is all part of some carefully pre-determined plan devised by a higher authority. The Illuminati, of course, are the chief suspects.
Hollywood recently picked up on the 23 Enigma with the Jim Carey move The Number 23.
And on what day, I hear you ask, was Milton Keynes officially founded? That’s right, the 23rd of January. Did you expect anything else?
To be precise the date was 23rd January 1967, coinciding rather neatly (or suspiciously) with the dawning of the ‘New Age’ astrological / esoteric movement.
Perhaps this predestiny goes some way towards explaining the city’s thriving underground occult scene, the pyramids, monoliths, ley lines, weird alignments, cryptids, aliens and other weird stuff. Which, of course, you can read all about it in my book.
